How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The cash transfers empowered me to marry a life partner. For a very long time I was alone because I could not afford to pay dowry. I am now socially respected in the community.
More so, I was able to acquire household items and property that I never had. My home looks beautiful with nice chairs and bedding. I also hired three pieces of farm land for agriculture and this will boost my family's food supply. Prior to receiving the cash transfers, I was majorly depending on casual labour which was not profitable. At one point, I almost thought of committing suicide because life was unbearable and I had nobody to run to.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion,GiveDirectly did well to send me the cash transfers that have transformed my life. To drive the point home, in my opinion GiveDirectly has only done great things in our community.

I spent my cash transfer to hire a farm land worth UGX 1000000 and I spent UGX 530000 to purchase a livestock. I spent UGX 50000 on purchasing clothes and the balance was spent on clothes.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The is a big difference in my life now, I have bought a piece of land where I am going to shift my home and utilize the previous home location as farm land and grazing ground. Previously I was limited from cultivating enough because I had a small piece of land.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
On seeing the mobile money message, I became so happy and excited. It was 1:00 am, I could not sleep again because I was protecting my phone. I started thinking that some one would sneak into the house and steals it.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I used my first transfer for buying a piece of land at UGX 1,000,000, two cows at UGX 480,000, two goats at UGX 60,000. I spent the balance for buying a mattress and food.
