How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
A few months ago I was involved in a car accident. I needed a lot of recovery time and could not engage myself in farming activities as much as I normally would. That meant I had to give up on having food this year. Luckily, you registered me in your program and with those funds I was able to pay other people to work on my land so that I could still grow food that will sustain me in the coming months.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion Give Directly kept its promise and sent money to everybody registered. I only wish that you had not limited the transfer amounts because now you are leaving us with construction equipment but no money for the actual job. It will be hard for people to fulfill their dreams of owning nice houses
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used the transfer to buy additional iron sheets and windows as the plan is to build myself a nicer house. I currently live in a very tiny grass thatched house that is very inconducive for my large family. While I saved a portion of the transfer for the actual construction after the rains, I had to use up some of it and buy beddings, kitchen utensils, and food every now and again.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was very happy as I speak to day I am still happy and I cannot contain my happiness. I am still in joy as I wait for my last transfer.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
My livelihood has changed. I nolonger worry about food as I now know I have enough to feed myself and my home.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent it on iroon sheets because my house is made of grass so this will be a great change for me. I aslo bought a mattress so that I nolonger sleep on a mat. I did not have enough food so I bought 3 bags of maize to add to the maize I had. I have been sick recently, as it is the farming season, the money helped me hire people to work in my garden as I could not do it myself. The money has really helped.
