How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
No! Before receiving this payment I had no new goals. My goal has been to see my becoming reputable people in the future. I used to make business. Due to the poor economy in our country the business could not sell anymore. It collapsed. I have been hoping to start a new one but have not been able to do so due to lack of money. I was over overwhelmed when I received my payment. Hopefully after receiving all of the transfers our lives will never be the same again.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done absolutely nothing wrongly. This amazing program is a life changer. We are so grateful to be a part of this golden opportunity. Our lives will improve for the best.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have not withdrawn my payment but when I do, I am planning to buy my children uniforms and pay their tuition. I am also planning to start a new business. I am so happy that things will now get better for my family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
"After the completion of the farming season in 2021, our entire rice kitchen( place used for storing rice after the harvest season) got burned as a result of a fire outbreak. Since this incident, we have experienced a serious hardship leading to our children dropping out of school. When we had the rice, we could no longer buy food so the little money we had was used to send the children to school. My husband goes in the forest to hunt animals and the animals killed from hunting are sold in the communities and the money is used to support the children in school. Now the minimum money generated from the sale of bush meat cannot buy food for the family at the same time pay the children's school fees. When I receive any transfer from Give Directly, I will use some of the money to send the children to school and some will be used to buy food for the house"
What is the happiest part of your day?
"In the last six months the most exciting period of my life was when my entire family was safe from a fire outbreak back in 2021. Even though we lost almost everything, but for the fact that out lives were safed I account it all joy to have life up to now".
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
"Financial hardship is the major challenge we are faced with. As I speak to you my children are out of school because we have no means of paying their school fees. My kids are out of school because the money that would have been used to pay their school fees is now shifted to buying food for the family as a result of the fire outbreak that destroyed all of our food that was in stock".
