After getting the second transfer, I got the urge of keeping more goats if I get some money. this is because goats can be easily converted to money compared to cows as far as their value is concerned. Investing in goats is my desire and I will fight every other day to fulfill it.

This organization gave me a task that I was longing for quite some time now. I was desiring to keep livestock at my home specifically goats and these goats come with a task that is very enjoyable if you love them. As at now I am a happy shepherd. I really enjoying moving around with my goats as they search for pasture.

Upon withdrawing the money, I bought 10 goats for different prices so I can not exactly say how much I spent on the goats, the reason for buying a high number of goats is the desire I had for raring goats. I also bought a solar panel and some florescent tubes for KES 20000.00. this is after seeing the cost of buying paraffin for lighting was high and sometimes we stayed in darkness because of lack of money to buy the paraffin. As at now we have good lights at night and we are happy for that. I also paid KES 10000.00 school fees for my four grandchildren so that they can have a smooth learning flow in school. Thereafter I saved the rest of the money for family upkeep.

It was around 9 AM when I was just relaxing when a message notification popped. I was a bit curious and without wasting time, I asked my helper to confirm the contents of the message. On checking, I suspected there was some good news after seeing him smiling. After inquiring he informed me that I had received my first transfers from GiveDirectly. At forst I thought it was a prank but after my elder son checked and shared the same information I knew it was true. I felt so happy and hopeful in life since I knew that I woud achieve a lot

Having the goats in my compound has brought the biggest difference in my daily life. I settled for goats because they mature very fast as compared to the other domestic animals and they can easily be maintained. I have been longing to rear them for a long period but I could not afford them because they were costly. Being a widow who only relies on casual jobs that are normally unreliable and pay very little, purchasing them was not possible. For now, I feel I am a better person since I have assets that now serve as my security. Currently, some have started reproducing which gives me hope that within a short period of tie I will have many of them I believe that thus will enable me to pay school fees for my children with fewer struggles unlike before. Also, when the offsprings mature, I will sell them and buy a dairy cow. From the benefits, I will be able to sustain myself even after GiveDirectly has finished its program in this village. I feel blessed to be among the beneficiaries and grateful for all the good deeds they have brought into our lives.

I spent part of my first transfer on buyng beddings such as a new wooden bed KES 7000 and a new mattress at KES 5000. These were to replace the old traditional beds that I have been using for all those years. I have been sleeping with lots of discomforts and I was always complaining of some back pains as a result. Also, I bought a few building materials such as the building poles, threads for the completion of my house which I had initially started, and I was stuck because of the expenses. Later on, I bought five goats at a total of KES 15000. I also bought a solar pannel KES 2000 which is now of great help of especially at night and charging my phones and those of my friends at a fee and generating an oncome. In addition, I cleared school KES 1000 for my granddaughter who is in secondary school. With the remaining amount of money, I bought sufficient foodstuffs for my family.
