Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my life is that I have received financial support that will fulfill my future plan of acquiring a motorcycle. Before receiving the cash transfer, I always had a future plan of starting up a boda-boda transport business. However, I did not have any financial support to accomplish that dream. Nevertheless, I am very grateful that GiveDirectly has made this dream come true for me.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I heard my phone buzzing at night. When I checked the message, I failed to sleep, I remember moving out of the house where I was met by loud shouts of joy and ululation from my neighborhood. I was so happy because this was a dream to me. I had never received such good news in my entire life.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I am planning to spend the first and second cash transfers to purchase a motorcycle.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to buy a motorcycle. With this, I will be able to transport people to their different destinations since I will be doing it as a business. This will enable me to make money like the rest of the motorcycle ridders that I see.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the evening when I am seated with friends. Being a new resident in this place, the love that people of this community show me gives me the confidence to move on. I feel welcome.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of money. I have no capital to venture in any income generating activity and yet I would really wish to have one. This has left me poor with nothing to offer even to my own self.
