How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Before receiving these transfers, I had built 3 pit latrines that the termites destroyed within a short period of time because I had used wood and with a grass thatched roofs due to limited funds. However, when I got money from GiveDirectly, I bough proper materials for building a pit latrine and it was successful built. I believe it's going to take us more than 5 years without it getting spoilt or filled up. Futher more, I bought an ox that is helping me with agriculture because I had no oxen of my own since the once I was given my sister to take care of were sold for her children's education.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well to give me unconditionally cash transfers that I have spent to build a pit latrine and paying dowary. I have not observed any thing bad with GiveDirectly but we only wish if more money would be added to us.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to purchase construction materials(iron sheets, cement, iron bars, wire mesh) and paid labour for constructing a pit latrine. Further more, I paid my wife's dowary, hired land and paid for making bricks.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
There is big difference in my life now because all my family members sleep on good beds and feeding has generally improve. I am able to eat a balanced diet unlike before when we could eat only one type of food which was available.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the money, I became so happy and first thing I did was to kneel down and thank God for this kind of opportunity.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I used my first transfer for buying a mattress, a bed, bed sheets, a dinner table set and food. I also purchased a door, windows and sand that I intend to use for renovating my house. I have saved 1,000,000 which I will top up with my second transfer for buying a motorcycle.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means my house construction will be completed. I will be in position to plaster the wall, buy doors and Windows and make it better.
I will also start up a produce business in which I will buy from a local market and sell at slightly a higher price to keep my money growing.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the evening when I am listening to gospel music over the radio.
It is the time that I have to meditate and just reflect upon my life.
I just praise and thank God for his mercies in my life.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is poverty.
I do not engage in any income generating activity because I do not have a resource to base on in order to start up some thing say for example a business.
The little that I am able to earn from casual labour is spent just to find atleast a meal for the family but I can not save anything.
This has kept me in the poverty cycle.
