How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is much comfortable than it was in the past. For instance I constructed a three roomed house with the second cash transfers. This is a miracle to me because I never thought I would sleep under an iron roofed house. I knew I would die sleeping under a thatched house. I am very grateful to GiveDirectly for transforming our lives.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done what no other organization has done. Not even the government has done what GiveDirectly has especially by delivering what they promised with no strings attached. I like the fact that they delivered the cash transfers directly to the poor.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent all the second transfer to construct a three roomed house.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference that am about to get in my life is an iron roofed house. I am currurently sleeping in a grass thatched house with a leaking roof. I am also getting weaker because of age and currently having difficulty to work. On the other hand, thatch has become scarse. To me constructing an iron roofed house will be the greatest achievement.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I recieved the transfer, I felt happy. I used to admire people's iron roofed houses. Now that I have the money, I will construct my own.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer for buying bricks at UGX 700,000. I have not yet spent UGX 1,000,000, I intend to use it on purchase of household item, other construction materials and paying for labor.
