Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goals for the next four months is to do more on horticulture. I will be able to get money by selling the produce at the market.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in that last four months preceding the current transfer is that I paid school fees for my children. I depend on small casual jobs in the village to earn an income to meet the daily needs and also pay school fees. My children would be sent home most of the time to collect the school fees and since I had no ready cash the could spend much time. Their performance was affected during those times. I cleared all the fee balances and they were able to study without any disturbances. I have peace of mind to do my daily jobs and to save money for other semesters. I have time to also work on my farm unlike before where I could spend the whole day on someone's farm.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to have changed in that I will have save money from the sales of my farm produce to pay the school fees on time. They will not be sent home to collect the school fees.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The arrivals of GD transfer has made my life easier and able to save for my future. I used the transfer to pay school fee for my child in secondary school hence I didn't sell a cow as I had intended to do to raise money. I have enough food for my family daily meal and I also have better bedding and clothing due to the assistance of this transfer.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the expect six months I expect my life to be better in that my farming will be doing better hence more income for household use and savings.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Currently, I am able to save for my future in that I have the transfer cash for current life expenses hence allows me to keep my other assets like cows and even adding more for future use. The new house that we have built using my wife's transfer gives me happiness and a better place to call home. I am happy and hopeful of good things in my future life.
Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
The new goal that I have developed since I received the transfer is to do more short season farming and to buy a cow.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is when my first born son fell sick. We visited many hospitals before we could really establish the disease that had befell him. All these visits required money and we had to use all the family resources to help him. We even sold our land to try and find the best medical facilities for our son. It was much later that we discovered that our son was suffering from lung cancer. He struggled to have his live back but it is so unfortunate that we lost him. The pain of losing a first born son was unbearable but we thank God we have been able to accept the situation.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the afternoon when I am done with my daily activities which in most cases is taking care of my livestock. It gives me much joy since I know that I will find returns at the end of the day.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to spend part of my transfer in paying school fee for my three children who are in various secondary schools. I also have plans of spending the remaining amount on buying a dairy cow for the household.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
For a long time, I had a difficult time providing for my family. It reached a point in my life that I felt I needed to do something for my family to have a sense of responsibility. We hardly had anything to help us within the household to meet the daily needs. In 1989, I went to Chemamul Tea Estates to be employed as a casual labourer. It is at this place that my life took a new twist. I managed to save up the little amount of money that I used to get and within one year, I was able to buy livestock for my family. Since then, my family has never gone hungry and I consider this an achievement that I will never forget.
