What does receiving this money mean to you?
When I receive the cash transfer, I will use some for my health, improve my house condition and the balance will be used to feed my family. The presence of Givedirectly has brought relieve and greater joy to me because I am sure it's definitely going to help improve my health. I have been struggling with a chronic sickness for a very long period of time that has made me look old. The town people have taken me all over to different herbalist to diagnose the real cause of my sickness but to no avail. I feel sad mostly, because it has made me weaker to make farm or burn charcoal and sell to maintain my family. My wife is very old that she barely walks or stand and the only source of feeding we have now is our daughter that lives in Nyuondee, she helps us with food many times. I would love to visit a renowned hospital when I receive the cash transfer to help diagnose and improve my health. The house we have is in a very terrible condition, there's only one room which is occupied with my grandchildren and wife. During rain season, we will have to move our materials around so the rain cannot damage them because it leaks so much. If I receive the cash transfer I am sure it's going to be a great help to my life and family...
What is the happiest part of your day?
What has brought me joy or happiness in the last six months was in September 2021 when I returned from herbal treatment. I have been away for a long period of time seeking herbal treatment and my family missed me and were worried due to my condition at the time of my sickness, nobody really thought I would survive because the sickness treated me tragically. Even though I am not hundred percent healthy yet but at least my not in the previous condition. My health has fairly improved and I am very excited.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The challenges that I am currently facing is access to finance. My health condition is a serious challenge because I am really frustrated having travelled all around from one herbalist to another but still no improvement. When I was healthy, I had everything I needed even though it wasn't that much, but I was not begging to feed my family. I was strong enough to burn charcoal for myself and sell, from the sales I paid my children school fees, build my house and feed my family. Nowadays it's never the same, the sickness has damaged everything. I will really appreciate assistance that will help improve my livelihood.
