How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I want to fix my house and make it more comfortable because it is not decent again for living, each time rain falls, the entire house gets wet. I also want to establish a good business that will keep raising more money for my family expenses. The business will help to keep supporting my three children in school until they can graduate and have better jobs in the future.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, I love GiveDirectly because they are helping me to get everything I need unconditionally, they are also kind in talking to me anytime I am being interviewed. I don't have anything bad to say about GiveDirectly, all their processes are okay to me.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my second transfer to buy building materials for my house, I have also paid my children balance school fees with some of the money. I bought food too for my family, the little amount that remain was kept for future purpose.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
One of the mornings in November 2021, I was cooking at home when I received a message on my phone indicating that I have received money from GiveDirectly. I didn't know because I don't know how to read and write; I called my children to read it for me. When they read the message, they told me that GiveDirectly has sent me money on my mobile account. I was so happy and rejoicing that day and thanking God so much for GiveDirectly.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Before GiveDirectly came to help us, I was going through a real difficult time because I lost my husband and the children responsible are all on me. Getting food to eat was a big challenge for me because of lack of money. Many days I ate just cassava with my children to survive; but now that GiveDirectly has helped me, I have my own business that is raising money for me. I also have enough to eat with my children everyday; and my children are now in school.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my first transfer to buy zinc for my house because my house had leakages; whenever rain falls, there will be no rest for me because my entire room will get wet. I also decided to open a new business that will raise money for me for other expenses. The remaining amount was used for food and my children's school fees.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
If I'm successfully enrolled in to Give Directly's cash transfer program, I want to used some of the money to pay my children school fees because they are father less and that there is no one supporting them except me as a single mother. And if the money is enough to do other things, I will also used some to recondition my house especially the roof because since my husband built this house for me when he was still alive, we haven't changed anything on it due to the lack of money. I will also start up a business to enable me cater to my home interns of food and other needs of my children.
What is the happiest part of your day?
In the last six months, the only thing that has brought me joy or happiness is the arrival of Give Directly in our town. I said this because I have been hearing from other people that Give Directly help people to help themselves. I was even on my way to the next town when I saw the motor bikes entering the town so I decided to return because I thought it was Give Directly people and as God could have it, upon my return to the town as soon as I asked my people, I was told that it was Give Directly, that alone has brought me more Joy or happiness; something that I haven't experienced for a very long time. I'm happy because I trust that God will help me received Money from Give Directly's cash transfer program.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The main challenge that I am currently facing is the lack of money. Even as we speak, I didn't have food to eat yesterday due to the same money problem; the only way I can get money for my self and my children is by making my garden and later take the greens to the Market to sell. The day that my greens aren't bought, there wouldn't be food available in our home because that's the only source of income for our family.
