How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
The amount I am receiving from GiveDirectly was meager and I could not start any tangible project with it. Therefore, I decided to embark on the strategy of saving in my mobile banking account. With this savings for the last four months, I am able to generate income from selling my farm produce to my neighbors and supplement with the profits from my small business to support my family with ease.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, I have a new goal of starting poultry farming. I tried this business before and I made a handful out of it, unfortunately, some of the villagers came and stole the chicken when I was away admitted in the hospital. I am not giving up despite the occurrence since I need to have a source of income that will support me even after the GiveDirectly project has ended.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months is that I have been able to use the right mechanisms in farming this time around venture by buying hybrid vegetable seeds and fertilizer to help increase the farm produce and boost the growth within a small span of time. Today, I earn from the produce through selling some across the village to cater to our daily provisions like buying food.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I have a lot of expectations in the initiation of my poultry project. I hope that my savings would be enough to start this project with the monthly transfers. I believe when the project shall have picked up I will be able to sell eggs and a good number of chickens which in turn shall translate into a better income generation activity.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I have been able to get quality healthcare services because I was able to acquire the National Hospital Insurance Fund card. I use this card to go to good hospitals to get quality treatment. Before the transfers, I used to go to the local hospitals which were less effective and I would struggle with sickness for a long time even after getting treatments. Ever since I started using this card, I have been getting well as soon as I am treated which gives me humble time to develop my life.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal in the next four months is to start a poultry business. I plan to have a better future because of the life-changing opportunity given to me by GD. I would want to invest more in business so that I do not struggle to meet life demands as it was the case before the transfers.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my life since I started receiving these transfers is that I have a vegetable business which is a stable source of income for me. Before the transfers, I used to struggle through casual work and farming which gave very little income for me. I was not able to meet my needs because the income I had was insufficient. The farm was not doing well due to being used year in year out hence the harvest could not sustain my life. I used to supplement the harvest with casual work at least to meet the basic needs of life but it was still a struggle. I am glad I do not go through the struggles anymore.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I plan to start the poultry business to add to my vegetable business. I know with this business I will have a stable source of income to help me improve on my financial status so as to avoid begging and borrowing as was the case before the transfers.
