What does receiving this money mean to you?
If I'm successful to receive the cash transfer from GiveDirectly I intend to build my personal house and use the balance to pay my daughter tuition fees in secondary School. Even though I produced charcoal but the money generated for the charcoal is not enough to build my own house and pay my daughter school fees in secondary school. My daughter was attending Bowein Elementary public school, this year she got promoted to the 7th grade, but the school is an elementary school. Bowein Elementary Public school is the only school that is in the town and affordable. I want her to go to SassTown High school to further her education but there's no money.
What is the happiest part of your day?
In the last six months what has brought me joy or happiness is when my friend Hawa gives me five cups of rice that cost 250.00 Liberian Dollars in the month of June 2021. I was happy and started thanking God for what she did for me because my household never had charcoal to sell and buy rice and the fact that someone that is not my relative gives my household 5 cups of rice to eat brought so much joy to me.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship facing me currently is the lack of money to build my own house and continue to pay my daughter's tuition fees. Though I burn charcoal but the money I earned is what I used to cater to other family challenges such as food and buy the other two children school materials that are attending Bowein elementary school. The money earned from charcoal selling is not enough to buy zinc and other building materials to start the construction of my new house. Therefore I will appreciate any assistance given to me by GiveDirectly to improve my livelihood.
