What does receiving this money mean to you?
If I am bless to receive money from Givedirectly, I intend to pay for me and my sick son treatment and use the remaining to fix my house. My son has been suffering from epilepsy and cataract on his eyes for over four years. I have been carrying him from one traditional treatment place to another, but the problem has not been solve because there has not been money to try western medicines or hospital. Right now, he's at another native doctor but no improvement in his condition as yet. For me, I had had severe stomach pain for over three years too, but no money to go to a good hospital to check and see what happening. My son sickness has taken all of my attention and time. Even though I am a widow and that I depend on picking broom stick's to sell, the money I get from the sales is not sufficient to take care of me and my son's sickness and also provide food for us. The rain has also added to my trouble by damaging the house my late husband left behind by washing off the mud that we plastered it with. I just wish I had enough money to buy cement to plastered the house before it falls, but can't get hold of money. So, any way that Givedirectly can help me and my son to improve our lives will make me happy.
What is the happiest part of your day?
What had made me happy in the past six months is seeing Givedirectly visit our town and talk to me. Right now, I feel like I have just received huge money to pay for our treatment because this is my first time for someone or NGO to offered me phone. I feel that all of my worries and prayers are gradually being answer. Even if Givedirectly don't give me money, I am still feeling happy that I have forgotten some of my worries. I wish my late husband was still alive to see this happen. I strongly believed that me and my son will get treated because owning a phone will help me give my number to family and friends that can be of help.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship facing me now is money to take me and my son to a good hospital to treatment our sickness and also be able to fix my house. Even though I am a widow and that I depend on picking broom stick's to sell, the money I get from the sales is not sufficient to take care of me and my son's sickness and also provide food for us. At times, I lock myself up in my room and cry severely because of what happening to us. If I had had money, I strongly believed that me and my son would have been very well by now and that our house be in a better condition as well. Any assistance that Givedirectly can give to help me and my son to improve our lives will be highly appreciated.
