How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different in that I am happy nowadays because this money has enabling me to have livestock and chicken at home. These are necessary assets at home that can be sold to solve any financial problem emanating in future. Before, without these, I was full of stress especially when any member of the family fell sick, because you have no where to get money to meet hospital bill.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well giving me money that has enabled to pay debts, meet hospital bills, acquire livestock and household items, which wouldn't have been possible. There's nothing it hasn't done well in my opinion since it's uplifting people's livelihood.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
My second transfer was used to buy three pigs, two goats and four chicken, then household items like utensils. I also paid a debt, hospital bills, and the balance spent on feeding.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that fact that I was able to hire farm land that has increased my food production. This will help me to raise money to cater for my family needs when I sell the produce in the near future and fight the issue of famine that has always stuck my family.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my money, I felt so happy for such an organization to come, help and fulfill its promise to us.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer Ugx 400000 to hire two farm lands that I am currently farming. I then bought some agricultural seedlings such as cassava stems, paid labor that cleared the farm land and planted the cassava stems. I also bought a bull at Ugx 780000. I then bought some household goods such as two mattresses, two beds, food and utensils.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to build an iron roofed house, buy oxen that will support in the farming activity and buy some household items. This oxen will help me in opening up fields and plant crops at the right time to increase chances of better yields.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the evening after my family has had supper. This gives me the confidence that I was able to provide for the day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of oxen. As I speak, I have not yet planted a number of things that I would really need to because there is no reliable labour source. This has always resulted into low productivity which explains why I have had food shortage in my family most of the time.
