How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The new goal I have set before receiving this transfer is to continue with my building process. I used my previous transfers to purchase three bundles of Zinc to roof my house. My current house is old. I have decided to build new decent zinc house to relocate with my family. Thanks to Givedirectly for the cash support. It through Givedirectly cash supports that I will soon own decent house in this village.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Givedirectly is an transparent Organization in Liberia. Givedirectly staffs do not accept gifts from community dwellers. Givedirectly cash supports have helped many people in this village to be self reliance in this village. Thanks to Givedirectly for empowering me financially. There is no system in GiveDirectly that needs improvement.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent my most recent transfer to buy three cartoons of assorted zinc nails to start roofing my house. I have hired power saw operator to start sawing 75 pieces of planks for my house I am planning to build. Thanks to Givedirectly for empowering me financially. It is through Givedirectly cash supports that I will no longer sleep in old house in this village.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
" The cash transfer from Give Directly will be used to build my house, establish a business and go to hospital for medical treatment. About a year ago my family and I were thrown out of the house we were living when the owner return to the town from another village where he has gone to o live previously. Since I was asked to leave with my family, I have not had a permanent place for my family. As a result of this, I decided to engage into cassava farming for commercial purpose since I didn't have an employment. The plan was to use the income from the farm to build a house for the family but It didn't go as planned because of a seriously abdominal pain that I encountered. When we didn't have place to stay at the time, my uncle offered us a room in his house to rent for a minimum amount but I can not afford the rent anymore because of my health condition and lack of income".
What is the happiest part of your day?
"For the past six months nothing has made me happy. It is almost two months without proper food for my family due to the financial hardship we are faced with as a result of my illness. I hardly get a sleep at night because I am worried on how to generate money to pay my rent before we are again thrown out of the house. It has been about two years without a permanent place for my family to stay. This and many more have brought me so much sorrow. With the above narration, nothing has made me happy for the past six months"
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
" Financial constraints is the major challenge for me. Since I got sick last year, I have not had the means to go to hospital for checkup because there is no money for medical bills and even accommodation. I have been told by some local health workers that my condition may require a survey when I go to a better hospital either in Monrovia or Buchanan. Since I got sick last year, only herbs I have been taking as treatment for the unknown disease since I don't have money to go to hospital for treatment".
