After utilizing the second transfer as per my plans, I developed another goal that I yearn to accomplish. I aim to build a good and spacious house that will comfortably accommodate my family of five. The current house is very small and congested. To achieve this goal, I am in a merry-go-round group which will aid me to raise the money to construct the house.

Equality was key and etiquette is something I salute to all the GiveDirectly officials. They served us well with integrity and respect. So far so good, I have not seen or found any fault relating to GiveDirectly. I am thankful for the transfers, they helped me get a nice toilet. I pray that God continues empowering you to keep on the good work.

Getting clean water was a hustle in our area. I had to travel longer distance sourcing for the same. Upon getting the second transfer, I opted to end the water struggle by buying some equipment for tap fixing. I applied to the water company and I am glad that the water was fixed and as of now I have easy access to water. I cannot tell how much I used to buy the equipment but the labor charge for the fixing was KES 5000.00. Thereafter, I paid a balance of KES 16000.00 for school fees for my child who is in secondary school. In addition to that, I renovated my toilet which was in a bad state that could not be used. I bought nine bags of cement for KES 5400.00 and three iron sheets for KES 3000.00. Currently, the toilet is functional and we are happy that by having a toilet we prevent ourselves from some diseases. Lastly, I bought a goat for KES 3500.00 to maintain the presence of GiveDirectly at my home.

I learned of my transfer in the morning after I had left the house for work. By then I had begun making ballast for a client who had promised to come by midday. While carrying on with the job, I noticed a message notification and upon checking it, I was shocked to see a Mpesa message of KES 55,000. I felt so excited about the transfer and were it not that I had promised my client to prepare ballast for him, I would have gone home just to appreciate God for such a great help. I knew that for sure I would be able to raise money for food and pay school fees for my 8 children in the most comfortable manner I never imagined.

Since I received my first transfer, I have had noticeable positive changes in my life. As a result of the transfer, I have been to comfortably support my family with ease. I have been able to pay school fees for my children as well as buy food. This has relieved the hard labor of making ballast. I am so grateful to GiveDirectly for the financial aid accorded to me.

As a result of the low availability of casual jobs, I had not been having a steady source of income since the beginning of the year. A situation that subjected me to being unable to pay school fees for my children hence accumulated fee arrears. Therefore when I received my first transfer, I was able to spend KES 20,000 on clearing the fee arrears. In addition, I spent KES 5,000 on buying a goat and I am glad that currently, I own one. Since I have not been having a pit latrine, I decided to use a portion of my transfer to initiate building one. This will save my image from the neighborhood which had begun complaining whenever we share their pit latrine. Lastly, I spent KES 7,500 on buying food and KES 3,600 on buying a mattress 3,600. Basically, my life has positively changed courtesy of the transfer.
