Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was one of the rare moments that I have ever had In my life. The cash transfer means a lot to me. I received the message when I was chatting with my friends. I couldn't hold the joy such that I shouted.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
So much has changed. I now have a nice sleeping place than before. I managed to buy a bed, Mattress, a duvet and some other beddings. I am now sleeping on a comfortable place. The money also helped me to buy food. Without the transfer, it was very hard to make both ends meet. I could sometimes go to bed without eating but thanks to GD for the transfer. Above all, I have managed to buy iron sheets. This is something that could have taken me ages to buy.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
In my whole life, I have been desiring to build a house. Considering the rainy season which is fast approaching, I can't manage to do the house project this year. I will build a house next year when the rain stops. With my first transfer, I have managed to buy 24 iron sheets. My house was also lacking beddings. I used the money to buy a bed which costs MK 40 000, I bought some bedsheets and a duvet. I also bought a mattress which costs MK 35 000. Not only that, also managed to buy clothes for my entire family and food.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I will use the money to buid a new house. My house is too small and i need a bigger house. I have 3 kids and with my small house we can all fit there and because of this my 2 kids sleep at my mothers house.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The past 6 months i was happy because i was enrolled in world food program, they were giving is mk 5,000 per term for us to buy food for our kids.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Currently the big challenge is space in my house. My house it too tiny to occupy 5 of us and everyday i have to live with this. For this reason 2 of my kids sleep in my mothers house because her house is big.
