How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Patricia, before GD came, I planned to build a house but could not be realized due to lock of funding. My entire life is just farming and the products sales could not start a house. I was enrolled as a recipient on the GD program and received my first and second transfers. With the first and second transfers, I can now start to build a house of my own.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Firstly, I want to take this time to say a very big thanks to Give Directly for services rendered us during the entire enrollment process was very transparent. You did a great and excellent job.

Zinc 4 bundles, I was able to buy four (4) bundles of zinc and paid people to cut the Sticks for the building. I was also able to buy food for the children. Thanks to the entire Give Directly family for the transfer that will enable me to own a house.

It was on a cold morning when I was washing dishes and I received an alert on my Givedirectly sim card. Immediately I saw the message, I yell and became to smile and dance. I left the dishes washing and ran to tell my aunty since my husband wasn't around. I Was so happy. "My money has arrived" I told her. We both celebrated. When my husband arrive, the celebration was even more.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I was living with my older sister in Yantoe, Cote De'Voire before returning to my home in Liberia two years ago. My spouse and I have been living together in this village for two years and Since my arrival here I have been residing in this thacthed roof house which is a complete opposite of where I used to reside in Cote De'Voire when I was there with my older sister. I am not too happy with the living conditions taking into consideration the dwelling place . However, I have been planning with him that we build a modern house with a corrugated sheets; plan which we have been working on thereby establishing this little shop . As we receive the unconditional cash transfer from GiveDirectly, we will make our dream come true by putting up a modern structure.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Despite all the difficulties explained, I am happily living with my spouse because he respects and shows me much love and care, reason I have refused to go back . The fact that I want to own my own business and we have established, I feel so much release whenever I receive customers to my shop.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My challenges are to dwell in a mud house built with sticks and thatches on roof where there is no electricity. So , to get all these things into my home I am working so hard with my spouse so we can get some in our future home .
