How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My new goal is to build a new house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Givedirectly does very well in helping people. They gave us the choice and opportunity to decide on what will benefit our lives. I love this part about them. Currently I haven't seen anything Givedirectly is not doing well. I love everything they are doing.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Most of my transfer was spent on Zinc and nails to build my house.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was sitting before my hut when I heard the phone ring because I was told that a cash transfer would come. It was a thing of joy and astonishment. I couldn't believe it until my son read the message and confirmed that it was indeed a cash transfer. I can't explain the joy I feel, it's a dream and I'm grateful.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I have been a farmer since my youth until few years ago when my illness became severe. Now I can not farm and have been relying on alms from family and friends until GiveDirectly came along. Now I can build my house, treat myself and stop asking people for help. I can say from this transfer now that I am independent.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have been living in this mud hut for over six (6) years years and it is falling apart gradually. I intend to erect a new structure on my land as well as use some of the money to treat my chest infection. I have been sick for over rhree (3) years and the chest is giving incessant cough and difficulties in breathing. A seventy (70) year old woman like me shouldn't be coughing like I am and breathing in gasps. It's my dream to own a house and regain my full health.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am a poor widow who lost a loving husband last year Dec 25.I married my husband we give birth to two children (a boy and a girl) I stood by my husband to raised these children;at the age of enjoying death took the boy away in a tragic motor accident and my daughter went to bed and never woke up,for my husband he got sick for two years;got bed ridden and die. I am a widow who was left with my sister daughter as my child but due to the situation of forwarding her education; she was sent to Fishtown, River Gee for schooling. As you can see I live here alone in this hut and survive by my husband family and my family who every farming year put together to make farm for my up keep. I do my cooking and washing all for myself and small garden work. If I get this money I will take good treatment, send some to my niece for school and the rest I will just buy good food and eat until I joined my family. Since the lost of my family worries have drained me up , I grieved every day and night.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest news is Give Directly visit. Seeing Give Directly here today I feel that I have a family again. I am so happy and may God bless you people for me.I have never been happy for a long time because of the situation I find my self in, I am always sick and draining because of worries but today give directly give me a chance to smile again with a hope of life.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My challenges I am faced with is the process of sowing and getting other house work done on a daily basis. For the brushing my family and my husband family do that, but to sow and weed the grass my self do them. The daily house work is done by me; if I had child/ children do you think this will be happening? no but here I am today cooking, washing and even at times harvesting for myself. My greatest life challenge is losing a family and not having a child to help by your side when you really need them. At times I sent my little sister children to fetch water. Money and other are also a challenge for me.
