What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
My first priority is to open a business of selling shoes where I wash cars in Kosovo. I will be buying second hand shoes in Gikomba because they are cheaper. I will target my clients who come to the car wash, this will provide a ready market for my business and I therefore hope to get alot of profit in return. I will also support my wife in opening a new business of selling rice. I will give her capital to buy rice in Mwea, Kirinyaga county then be able to supply in retail shops in Kosovo. This business from my wife will help supplement my income of selling shoes and also she will not over rely on me for her personal needs. Secondly, I will support my children education. I believe in them having quality education which will make them live a good life in future. This will enable them to compete in the job market, therefore, assured of having a good life in future. Thirdly, I will support my mother by boosting her business. She has a grocery business at Gikomba. At times she comes home without money and I have to facilitate for her transport to work.
Describe your biggest worry.
My top concern is crime because I have friends who involve themselves in criminal activities and I might find myself arrested by police officers who patrol in Kosovo Mathare when I am in their company. Due to unemployment this has led them joining bad company thus ending in crime. There are frequent police swoops due to crime, illicit liquor and drug abuse. At times I fear that I can be arrested and this will have a huge dent in my family. I fear that they can be thrown out of the house by the landlord and end up separating since I am the sole breadwinner.
What are your greatest ambitions?
My ambition is to become a successful businessman in future. I would want to invest in real estates, construct commercial buildings in Nairobi and Kiambu county. This counties are densely populated hence the demand of houses is high. I will be able to earn alot of profit from renting the houses and this will guarantee my family live a good life without having to struggle much. I will be able to provide my family with food, shelter and clothing as well as quality education to my children.
Describe your usual day. How do you spend your time?
On my usual day I wake up at 5:00am, I pray and then I leave for work where I wash vehicles near Utalii hotel. I have breakfast in a nearby kiosk and then I embark on my work as I wait for clients to come until 6:00pm in the evening. I return back at home, take a shower and then leave the house to hang out with my friends for a chat until 9:00pm. I then head back in the house, watch news, have supper and then I retire to bed. In my free time I like to relax at home with my family, watch movies or hang out with friends.
