How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I recently managed to buy a few utensils which I had longed to have in my life but then due to lack of cash, having the items always proved to be an uphill task for me. I no longer get embarrassed whenever I get visitors because I do not have to serve them food in old plates like I used to do previously.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
Currently, what I long to do is starting a small scale business where I intend to purchase second-hand clothes in bulk and then re-sell them at retail price in different markets located in different regions. By doing this, I am sure I will be in a position to generate a lot of profits within a certain period of time. The profits generated from the business will go a long way in keeping my family afloat.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I used the cash to buy a cow which I wanted to use for two purposes, the first one being milk [production and the second one being to increase the size of my livestock capacity. I am glad and confident to say that today I milk the cow because it recently gave birth to a calf, so for me, that alone is progress.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I long to buy a juice blender which I can use to blend juice and sell out at a profit within the locality and specifically within Bondo town. This area normally experiences high temperatures during the day, which makes the business one of the most viable business ideas that one can implement and succeed.

Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
Apart from my earlier goals, I would wish to buy another cow and buy household items which I lack.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I now own a cow and I was able to pay school fees in time.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I would want to add more cows so that I can have as many as I can.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
It has been one of my greatest dream since I got married to have a cow of my own but I have not been able to have one because I did not have money to do that. When I received this transfer, I was able to achieve this dream. Now I have my own cow.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced is paying my four children's (two in college and two in secondary school) school fees due to having an unreliable source of income.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when my children and husband are back from school and work respectively as we share meals and share about our day's experience.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to spend my transfer on paying my children's college and secondary school fees.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
The achievement I am proudest of was using hybrid seeds on my farm 2 years ago which enabled me to harvest 6 bags of sorghum, 12 bags of maize and 4 bags of beans. That was the best I have ever harvested from my farm. I was able to sell part of the harvest and used the proceeds to pay my children's school fees.
