My ambition is to expand my livestock holdings, which are currently my most valuable assets. I was able to obtain four goats as a result of the program, which I am currently raising. I live a simple life as a subsistence farmer with no reliable source of income to meet my financial needs. Nonetheless, I find solace in the fact that as these goats reproduce, I will have a convenient means to address my financial needs.

In my view, I believe that the program should have been extended to maximize its positive impact. The financial assistance we received has transformed our lives in ways we never imagined. Our children are now able to attend school, we have constructed new and improved shelters, and we have acquired valuable biological assets like goats and cows, which we can rely on to support our children's education. Without enrollment in the program, we would not have had the means to obtain any of these assets, and for that, we are deeply grateful.

I have harboured a long-standing desire to possess livestock, specifically goats, which currently stand as my sole assets. Regrettably, I lack a stable source of income, and in times of financial turmoil, I used to seek assistance from my neighbours, often leading me into debt. Even affording basic medical expenses was a formidable challenge. However, with my recent financial aid, I was able to acquire four goats for $140, which I am currently tending to. These goats represent the most valuable assets in my possession. As they reproduce, I can anticipate selling their offspring to address pressing financial needs, such as medical expenses. In addition to this, my dwelling was originally constructed from mud, and my aspiration was to enhance its durability and comfort. The interior was often dusty, necessitating plastering and flooring. Consequently, I purchased cement, and sand, and paid for labour costs to undertake the reconstruction. The house has now been transformed into a more respectable and stable abode than before. Moreover, I allocated some of the funds to buy essential food items, ensuring that my children could enjoy consistent and ample meals. Since receiving this financial support, our household has not experienced food shortages as it once did. Gone are the days when I had to skip meals due to insufficient provisions.

As the sun was about to set I received a message in my phone. Since I am illiterate, I had to wait for my helper who had gone to the shopping center to come and interpret the message for me. No sooner had he arrived that I gave him the phone for the message interpretation. He confirmed to me that I had received the first banch of the GiveDirectly transfers. I was over joyed and ululated in happiness. I can't remember the exact song I sang on that day but I composed a song of happiness and sung happily.

The only difference that I can speak of is that, before GiveDirectly came I was very skinny. The stress of missing food for at least two days a week and living in an unsacure house that was collapsing was eating me up. I am grateful because the food I bought after getting the first transfer has been sustaining me thus I gained weight a bit not like how I was before. Currently, I do not go without food since the time Ireceived the transfer.

Owning a decent shelter for my family has always been my desire in life. The transfer from GiveDirectly came at an appropriate time when our house was almost collapsing. I spent $137 of the first transfer to renovate it by purchasing the required building materials like iron sheets, and poles and paying for labor costs. At the moment, I am happy that we reside in a better shelter something that has restored our joy in life. Additionally, I used $120 to purchase three gala goats a future investment for the family. With the ongoing drought in our area, the remaining amount assisted me in acquiring enough food. The charcoal and firewood vending job that I depended on could not earn me sufficient money to feed the family and save for building a good house.
