Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was home when I received my transfer. I was very happy and immediately went to share the good news with my wife and kids. My kids did not have clean clothes and I first thought of getting them new clothes. I rushed to the nearest MoMo agent to withdraw my transfer. I was able to buy clothes for my family and I, livestock and food.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Before receiving GiveDirectly transfers, I was very poor and did not have clean clothes looked clean. My kids were very hungry and we only ate sweet potatoes that we got from the fields. Upon receiving my first GiveDirectly transfer, I bought new clothes for all of us and we were able to eat beans and rice. We were blessed and we always pray and thank GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent most of the transfer on hygiene and buying clean clothes. This is because it was what I wanted to buy for them the most. We really did not look presentable but we are now thanks to GiveDirectly.

What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
In the first installment the first thing I will do is to pay for medical insurance for 18$ because we need it a lot in our sickness me and my wife and then I am going to renovated my house because it’s small for my family size , I will be buying 3500 bricks for 35$ each which will cost 123$ and a new roof will cost 200$ and I am planning to buy clothes for me and my family. In the second installment I am planning to buy cement wich will cost 250$ and the rest I will save it in livestock by buying pigs which i can sell in the future. Receiving this money means coming out of poverty for us because it will help us get a proper house and livestock which we can sell and be able to pay for hospital bills and school fees for my children .
What is the happiest part of your day?
In the past days we were in a sunny season and I was very worried because we weren't producing enough to eat but now that we have entered a rainy season we are very happy and we are harvesting as wanted. We have even been fortunate enough to be able to get solar panels and modern stoves in our sector which is helping us a lot in our daily activities.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The main challenge we are currently facing is sickness because me and my wife Annonciata have a high blood pressure and other diseases which requires us to go to the hospital every month and this doesn't allow us to work as usual. We only cultivated our small land because we don't have enough energy to work for others in other to get enough money for our home.
