How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different in that, I have acquired a plot of land that I intend to construct a commercial house. Previously, I didn't have hope of buying a plot of land because I couldn't afford it.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well to give me cash that I used to purchase a plot land. GiveDirectly only did well for me.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that, I have been in position to get back my acre of land from the money lender. This has given me a peace of mind because I am relieved from the debt burden. Previously I didn't have enough money to settle the debt since the money I got from agricultural produce was spent on family needs.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I had my neighbors ululating at around 10: 30 pm, since my phone battery had gone off, I was forced move to my parents home to borrow a battery from my father. On checking my mobile money account balance I found out that, I had received money from GiveDirectly. I was overwhelmed by joy and immediately I joined in the ululation.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent UGX 1,400,000 of my first transfer to settle the debt that I had and I was able to get back my acre of land that had acted as security. I have not yet spent UGX 300,000 but I intend to spend it to purchase household items(utensils, bedding, curtains, a bed and a mattress).

What does receiving this money mean to you?
When I receive this money, I will build an ironsheets house because currently, thatching grass is very scarce. Besides, the current grass thatched house is too small to comfortably accommodate all of us. I will also use this money to pay a loan where my father had staked some piece of land as collateral so that I can regain that land and use it for agriculture.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the night when I am going to bed to rest. Its the time I get to relax.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced is lack of enough land for farming. The land that we were using was staked as collateral to pick a loan for treating my grandmother.
