How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is really different since I expanded by cereals business. Earlier on before receiving the transfer, I was a cereal broker. I did not have enough capital to start my own business. When the transfers came in, I channeled them towards starting my own cereals store. The business is really doing well and I am a happy and grateful woman thanks to GiveDirectly. The proceeds are also enough to meet my family's needs well and I even have extra to save through table banking.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well through giving people the transfer twice. giving people the whole amount could lead to wastage of the transfers.
GiveDirectly should keep up the work they are doing however close follow up should be done to ensure more effectiveness of the transfer.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent KES 30000 of the transfer on buying a cow. I then paid KES 14000 as school fees for my brothers in secondary school. I used KES 12000 to boost my cereals business. I spent the remaining of amount to buy food and other household goods.
