How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Yes, I do petty trade business and I didn't have the goal of establishing a business for myself. With the proceeds from the business, I will continue to support my family once I stop receiving money from GiveDirectly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
The great things that GiveDirectly is doing for the community is worth applauding. It's very rare for an NGO to give you free money without telling you how to use your money. In my mind, GiveDirectly does everything well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought goods for my newly established business and I paid the tuition of my four children.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
" If my family should benefit from this cash transfer, I plan starting a new business.
The payment of my kids tuition and fees for this year was one thing I didn't see possible for this coming academic year, so with the help of this cash transfer, proceeds from the business will help me pay my kids tuition and fees.
Young people like myself in our town are modernizing properties they inherited from their parents, but year in, year out, my inherited property is still the same. I will also use some of the proceeds from the business to improve on the quality of house my family and I live in."
What is the happiest part of your day?
" I the last six months, my greatest joy has been selected to participate in Give Directly cash transfer program. For almost two months we have been hearing of the work Give Directly has been doing in other town, looking at the distance of our town to the city, we never knew we were going to form part of this program. Early this morning when I saw the Give Directly staffs entering our town, I was so much over joy knowing that with their cash transfer, my challenges was going to be an achievement."
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
" My major challenges I'm faced with are my inability to pay my kids tuition and improve on the quality of house we live in.
I was never opportune to obtain education due to the distance from our town to the nearest school at the time, as a result of this, I have to do physical work all my life just to fetch a living. Knowing the consequences of this, I don't want my kids to experience similar situation, so I want to educate them.
I have really wished of improving the quality of my family, but the finances has been a major challenge."
