I joined merry go round, with the intention of plastering my house and this is my new goal in the next four months. I am now old and doing heavy-duties that involve a lot of bending I cannot manage. I am staying in a mud house that requires frequent smearing to avoid a lot of dust. Thus I am thinking of plastering it as fast as possible because hiring people every now and again to do the smearing work is very expensive.

The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that I took my grandchild to Secondary School. I thank Give Directly because I have never educated anyone to reach that level of education including my blood children because of my low financial status. It is a history in my life, in fact she could have dropped out of school in class eight ,because I had no hope of getting money to educate her. I have been able to buy her new school uniform which was a hard nut to crack to me before I started receiving money from Give Directly.

I would wish to leave in a clean environment, thus in the next six months, I want to finish plastering my house. Having plastered my home will enable will give me a lot of peace simply because I would have achieved my long term goal. During rainy seasons, it is always not easy on our side because water usually out of the floor and this is not good for our health. I frequently suffer from chest pain during this season, therefore once I plaster my house I will never suffer from such diseases any ore,

Currently, I do not have to do any casual work or tedious work to earn any income to take care of the family. I set up a small business that helps in the generation of income for the family. We have plenty to buy more healthy food to last us for days. My family members are now able to have healthy food daily whether I have toiled hard or not.

I have a goal of buying more steel windows to be able to enhance my home security some more.

The biggest difference in my daily life is the fact that my home is now more secure. I was able to invest in better steel doors and windows that I installed to enhance security of my home. This is unlike when I had a door made out of normal timber that someone could easily kick in at night or during the day and get away with my valuables.

I expect to have bought more steel doors and windows and installed them. This will see the completion of the whole house and now we will be more secure and prone from the burglars who break in people's homes anyhow.

The other difference in my life is that I was able to replace polythene windows with steel windows and glass panes. When I built my new house after the death of my husband, I was not able to raise money to buy windows to put on the walls. I have been trying to raise money to buy some but I was not able to. I have always felt very insecure at night because of the windows which were only covered with polythene papers. I have used to part of my transfers to buy steel windows and panes which I have fitted in my walls. I feel at peace because of GD transfers.

My new goal in the next month is to buy household items such as seats and utensils. The ones I have now are old and I do not feel comfortable anymore in using them. They are embarrassing me because of their status.

Before the transfers, I did not have any livestock in my compound. I had tried to buy some but due to my low income from casual work and small cereal business, I was not able to. My husband died before we had any and in my village, if you don't have any livestock, you are considered very poor. With Give Directly, I am not poor anymore. This is because I have two cows which I bought with part of these transfers. I can sell them to raise money to solve other needs anytime.

In the next six months, I want to ensure I pay school fees for my grandchild so that he may not be sent home for the same. I will pay the balance bit by bit until I clear the balance. I would want to give him what his parents would have given him.

Since we were enrolled into GD program, we have started table banking composed of seven members and we contribute KES 1500 in every month. This has enabled me to achieve so many things. I have bought a milking cow, building materials, and have managed to take my grand child to Technical Institute.

I am a businesswoman who sells cereals, but since the harvest was good, it resulted to high supply compared to market demand. I therefore have a plan of enlarging my farming practice in order for me to sell directly from my farm. I also plan to seek tender supply of maize to local schools, to promote my business.

The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months has been that; I did not have cooking house, but now I have already built the house. This has resulted to neatness of my house. Initially, my house was untidy because of accumulated soot. I also had a plan to buy a cow, but since the resources I could get from my sources was inadequate, there was no way I could built that house in whichever way.

In the next six months,I expect to lead a very soft life without financial stress. I plan also to start banana farming, and expect to have 300 plants, but since I cannot engage myself directly, I will employ other worker, but this requires resources.

I have been eating well, I have never sold my harvest to raise money for school fees for my grandson and soon I am fitting the windows in my house which I have been looking forward to.

I would want to invest in business to boost my income.

My grandson has never been sent home for school fees since I started receiving this transfer which has been my major worry ever since his mother died. I have been taking care of him because he had nowhere to stay. This is the biggest difference this transfer has brought to my life.

I would want to expand my house.

My new goals includes: Buying a new door and steel windows. In addition I plan to plaster my house.

My life is currently from how it was before because I am now able to buy fertilizer, something that I was not able to do before.

In the next six months, I expect to plaster my house, get a new window and make a new door for myself.

The biggest difference in my life is that I was able to buy fertilizers that will help me get a bumper harvest at the end of the season.
