Four months ago, I had not been operated on and was scared of the results of the operation. I knew they need a huge sum of cash for the procedure and I was worried about how I would raise it but thanks to GD's support, this was made easier than I thought. Before GD, this would have been a difficult moment in my life because I used to live alone and I was jobless I depended , majorly on handouts from family and friends.

I do not have any new goals as at now but looking forward to spending my transfers on medication and clinic visits till I am fully recovered.

The biggest difference is that, I had been scheduled for a medical operation on my abdomen to remove a growth that had been detected. My life is different from how it would have been four months ago in that I have always had food in my house. In the past, I struggled to put food on the table because of my low income from farming. Since I started receiving these transfers, I have been using part of my monthly transfers to buy food which has made a lot of change in my life.

In the next four months, I want to use my transfer for medication. I have been admitted for the last week and I should be going for an operation. On my own I do not have the resources to cater for operation hence I am planning to use the transfer for the purpose.

I have plastic seats which I do hire out at a cost to earn me an income. I have always desired to have a business which will earn me an extra income but due to low income from casual work and farming, I have never managed to start a business. GD helped me achieve this goal because every month I have been using my transfers to buy at least a seat each month. Right now I have 20 plastic seats which I do hire out at a cost of 10/= per day. This has been helpful because when I am sick like now, I still get money to sustain my needs.

I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I want to have 50 plastic chairs. This is because it is a business which is not expensive to maintain and the profits help me improve my life. Expanding the business by adding more stock helps me get an extra income to sustain my life.

I have been using the money to buy food for the family which is a very important thing for any family. My kids do not go hungry nowadays because affording three meals per day is never a problem to me anymore. I am also settled and i have a peace of mind because I know that very soon my business will be up and running.

I want to buy more seats and make sure that their numbers increase significantly within the next three to four months so that I can officially start implementing my business idea.

I have been buying new plastic chairs every month when I get the cash transfers from Give Directly.I have a plan of hiring out the chairs to customers in the future because I have realized that there is a gap in terms of supply of chairs within this village. I will be hiring out the chairs at 10 KES per seat. I also had a posho mill which got a mechanical breakdown at some point and repairing it was quite an uphill task but thanks to the GD cash transfers, I managed to repair the machine and nowadays I earn my daily bread from running the posho-mill business.

My life will change in the long run because when I start running the business of hiring out chairs within the locality, I will be making some good cash. I will then use the proceeds of the business to buy a cow which will definitely provide milk for my family and part of that milk will also be sold out to willing buyers so from that you can see that I will still be generating more income. Apart from that, the cow will also provide me with some manure which I will put into good use by spreading it in my farm and thereby being able to get more farm production during the harvesting season.

The biggest difference is that I have an income from the plastic chairs whenever they get hired. This has made my life better than before. I do not have to worry about where toi get my next meal like I used to.

I am still focusing on purchasing plastic chairs, once that is done, I will plan on what to do next in accordance to the needs by then.

In the next six months, I will have bought close to about 20 plastic chairs. This will increase my income from hiring the chairs. I also will have bought livestock for rearing. This has been my desire ever since but not have enough financed.

The biggest difference in my daily life is that I can never lack. From the hiring out of the plastic seats,I get something to depend on.

In the next six months,I expect my life to be more comfortable with the income I will be getting from this small business.

In my new goal is to buy tents to accompany my plastic. This will bring me more income and I do not have to depend on anyone.
