Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
Life before GiveDirectly had been very challenging. As a local plantain farmer, I have never received such a huge amount from my sale before. This is my first time to received such a huge amount of money free of charge. and every little cent was always spend on other household expenses. Changing our living condition as family from an old thatched house with leakage roof had been my biggest dream. But I couldn't afford the money to built a decent and comfortable house. Because even the little earnings from the sales after harvesting was only enough to feed my family. For this reason, the GiveDirectly entered our town until now I have been one of the happiest person in my village.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Since I started receiving payment from GiveDirectly, my life have been filled with so much excitement lately. Since the beginning of the raining season I have been really worry about the leakage of my old house roof to the extent that many nights whenever its rains I will have sleepless night. This had been very embarrassing for me as father that couldn't do anything to solve the problem. Happily with my transfer from GiveDirectly I have decided to change the living condition of my family to a better one. Therefore I decided to built a new house for my family. This plan bring me great Joy each and everyday.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
With the dream of building a new three bedrooms house for my family, I used a portion of the money and bought the first two bundles of zinc that being the most important material for the project. I also used a little portion and bought some packs of nail. Presently my family and I living condition had not been conducive especially during this raining season. My hope and dream is to completely change our living condition to a better one through GiveDirectly financial assistance.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I want to build a house if I received this cash transfer from GiveDirectly. I have five living children and they need a decent dwelling place. From time to time my family has suffered for a good dwelling place because I have not had the money to build them a well decent home. I will first purchase three bundles of zinc, 30 bags of cements and produce the dirt bricks myself and start the building project . The tash house I am living in is not the kind of inheritance that my kids will be proud of. As such, I will build a decent three bedrooms house and furnish it completely for the comfort of my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am very happy and joyful for the life God has given me. There are other people who even have everything to their needs but some are not healthily happy. I have build my life to be happy every day as I strive for better life through hard work. I believed in the saying that says (" once there i s life there os hope"). Once I am healthy and happy doing my palm plantation work daily , I hope to succeed and achieve my plan for life as my plantation reaches its production stage.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Financial hardship is the current hardship I am facing. Presently I am sleeping on a bare mat that which is equivalent to sleeping on a bare grand. My wife even left me with my five kids because I don't have the strong financial hand to support the family. I do physical hard work like farming and other casual work to generate money for family up keep but it's not sufficient to meet our needs. I am hoping that I use my cash transfer from GiveDirectly to only construct my dwelling pace to completion than we can find other means to keep the family moving on.
