Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was very happy when I received my transfer. It was like a dream come true. By then, I was at my farming land when I received a text message about the transfer. I left all what I was doing there and went straight home to get ready to withdraw my money. It was a very nice moment.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Let me start by thanking GD for the good work done. I had to sleep on the flow but because of the transfer, I have managed to buy new beddings such as a mattress and my sleeping place is comfortable. I also have enough food bought using the transfer. I live a happy life because of GD. I am so grateful.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my first transfer to buy iron sheets. I bought 14 in total. I also bought bricks which cost MK 80 000. My plan is to build another house because the house I currently own, is very small. I also used the money to buy new beddings. I bought a mattress which costed me MK 47000. I also bought a duvet which amounted to MK 20000. I also bought 3 bags of maize just to add on the food I have. I have saved part of the money which I will use to build a house.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am happy that I will receive this money, we will not run short of food this year, we experience food shortages now and again so this money will save me and my family alot
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am usually happy as long as I am sure that I will eat on that particular day
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
We have experience hunger every year because we don't have enough money to buy farming inputs and that results in low yields in the end, and I am planning to buy farming inputs in advance for this coming rainy season
