Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Everyday I wake up excited that GiveDirectly sent me the cash transfers that have improved my lifestyle. I dress in decent clothes and I sleep on a comfortable matress. Prior to receiving the cash transfers, I used to sleep on a mat and jiggers used to feed on me. My life was very miserable and undeserving of a young man like me. I look forward to embark on a search for a life partner because I feel socially empowered now.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When I received the cash transfer message, I felt very happy because this was my only chance to improve my living standards.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent UGX 1400000 to purchase two cows and UGX 180000 to purchase a bicycle and UGX 70000 to purchase a mattress. The balance I am spending it on food.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have always wished to end my lonely life by marrying a woman but all in vein because of no dowery. Therefore once I receive Givedirectly transfers I will spend for buying animals as dowery for marrying a wife. My spouse to be will help in famly plans and development as compared to this single life.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My best moments is in the evening hours. I take "ajono " local beer as part of liesure with friends at Apade trading centre. I get good I deas from friends that have helped me in planning.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship is lack of money for buying animals. These animals I intended to used as dowery for marrying a woman of my choice. I have found it hard to plan with this single life hence most of the money I get is wasted on taking alcohol.
