How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Having my own goats that I am currently rearing in my compound has brought the biggest difference in my life. I did not have any hopes of owning them any time soon because they were expensive and he little money used to earn on the casual jobs were only for my family's basic needs My plan is when they multiply, I will be selling the matured offsprings and buy a dairy cow. This will make me wealthier because I will start to be getting milk.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did everything do well to us. First, we were given some proper education on how we can secure our money to avoid cases of theft. During the Barraza we were also taught how best we can use the money appropriately and we were also given the chance to choose our desires.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent part of my second transfer in buying five goats at KES 12000, I then cleared school fees for my children who are in primary school. I then bought some building materials such as building poles, iron sheets, and nails which cost KES 18000. This was for the purpose of constructing a new house because the previous one was in poor condition and I did not have enough money to buy the required materials to construct one. The remaining amount of money I bought enough foodstuffs for my family and some other household items.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The goats that I acquired from the financial support has made my life to be so different. This is because I have already started seeing the benefits. Some of the goats have already reproduced which is making me be hopeful and happier. I am so sure they will increase in number very soon and this will help me in accomplishing most of my dreams. When the offsprings mature enough I will sell some incase I have any financial crisis like when my grandchildren have been sent home for fees I will no longer strain like before. Secondly, when the goats increase in number I will exchange them for a dairy cow and this will make me be financially stable. Because I will be selling milk hence generating an income. From the above reasons I believe my living standard will improve and I will be meeting my family's needs ease.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was at the farm when my phone started ringing and I immediately checked. But because I am illiterate I couldn't comprehend anything, I decided to ask for assistance from my helper. After checking he realized it was an mpesa message from GD. I had finally my first transfer. I was so happy I wish you could see how I reacted.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent part of my first transfer on buying some goats. It has been my long time dream to keep them in my homestead but due to my poverty life, I couldn't afford to buy them since they were very costly. I also bought a few building poles that will help me in constructing a new house. The other materials I am planning them in a few days to come. My previous house is very small and it could not accommodate us all, some of my family members had to seek some shelter at their friend's houses. I also cleared school fees for my grandchildren who are all in secondary and primary school. The remaining amount of money I am using it in buying some foodstuffs for my family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My desire in life has been to start indigenous goats rearing like others in the village. This will act as my investment for the future to sustain the needs of my family since I will be able to sale them when emergency arise after they multiply. I am planning to purchase 6 goats at 30 dollars each. I am also planning to use remaining amount in build a modern iron-roofed house for my 3 girls who are forced to seek shelter from neighbors.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My day begins with household activities until 10, when I travel to the bush to prepare charcoal. In the afternoon I normally plop the and transport them to the nearby market for sale. I usually come home in the evening tired with a packet of maize flour. It at this hours that I can prepare and share meal with my family. Therefore, I consider evening as the happiest part of my day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Lack of a reliable source of income to sustain the basic necessities of my family of 8 has been the biggest challenge in my life. Currently, my husband is old and can not work due to the deteriorating health ailments. I am forced to engage in charcoal burning activities in order to feed him and my children. This job is very laborious and normal earn me 3 dollars per sack after spending 2 weeks of preparation. Something turned our lives miserable as we can only afford one meal per day.
