Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment when I received my cash transfer I was so happy and grateful since I knew that I will be able to procure all the things that I have been desiring.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving these payments is that I am now able to eat all the required nutritious and healthy foods as compared to the past where I only ate once a day with low nutrients.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
With my cash transfer I was able to purchase food..I bought 5 bags of maize at a total price of $60 , the food will be enough for the whole family since I already had a few bags. I also bought some building materials such as iron sheets as I plan on building a new house next year..I spent about $150 on the 15 iron sheets that I bought. Lastly, I bought 1 bag of fertilizer at a price of $60 which I plan on applying in my maize field inorder to increase growth.

What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
Recieving this money will help me fulfill my dream of owning a house. I have always wanted to have a four bedroom house built with burnt bricks and iron sheets. I will use $320 to buy 32 iron sheets that I can use to roof my house because each iron sheet costs $10. This will help my family of four to live comfortably especially during the rainy season because the roof will not be leaking.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I was the happiest on 27th August because I attended my niece's wedding. The reception of the wedding was at the community ground. There were lots of food, dancing and music.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The challenge that I am currently facing is a financial challenge. I have always wanted to own a four bedroom house built with burnt bricks and iron sheets but I have not been able to achieve this because I do not earn enough money. I rely on farming to provide basic needs. I have a five acre farm where I plant soybeans, groundnuts, and maize. Sometimes I am able to harvest ten bags of soybeans, six bags of groundnuts and twenty bags of maize depending on affordability of fertilizer which when I sell I make about $150-$200 annually.
