My life is different than it would have been if I never received my transfer in that, I have been able to build a beautiful spacious house which accommodates my family members comfortably . Today, we do have most evening meals together which gives us the opportunity to share our short coming and success . This has bonded us more compared to before when our previous house was old, small and weak which collapsed Luckily after we had transitioned to the new one.

In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well through supporting my community with money which enhanced their economic empowerment since most of the beneficiaries invested their money on small entrepreneurship business. I do not see anything that GiveDirectly does not do well.

I spent my second transfer to purchase timbers , iron sheets, nails and paid workers who facilitated the construction of my new house. I Paid school fees for my four children who are in primary school and nursery school respectively. I also bought food for my family's consumption with the remaining amount.

The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now have six goats. I am hoping very soon they will multiply and fill the animal shed that I will have built. Already some have started reproducing which gives me hopes of having a bright future. My wish is to start selling some of the offsprings ones they have matured. I believe I will get a good profit because of their high demand in my village. This will now be my source of income that will help me in paying school fees for my children and still cater to my family's basic needs without straining too much. I used to struggle and since I get low income from my casual jobs and most of the time I could not meet my family's basic needs. I am now hopeful and happier because soon all will be well.

The idea of getting money from Give Directly when I was told during the baraza sounded untrue. Surprisingly, one month later I saw a notification message on my mobile phone at around 4.00 clock. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the amount that had been sent to me. I still thank them to date and I always pray for them wherever they are.

I spent part of my transfer on buying a few building materials. I managed to buy 24 pieces of iron sheets at KES 16000, nails at KES 700 and building poles at KES 8000. This was for the construction of my new house. Previously I used to sleep under a small hut which had some old iron sheets that used to leak especially during the winter. In addition to that, I also bought six goats at KES 15000. I decided to keep the goats because the climate in our area is favorable for the goats. I later bought a mattress because previously I used to have a bed and slept on rags because I didn't have a mattress. This used to be so hectic and uncomfortable.
