After spending the second transfer, I got another goal which I wish to accomplish once I get a good amount of money that can facilitate. Since I bought an acre piece of land, I would like to construct some rental houses once I get some money. These rental houses will serve as a long-term source of income and they will enable me to do the parental duties without straining much as before.

In my opinion, GiveDirectly did a commendable job. It has assisted so many people in our village through the unconditional transfers something that is very unique to us. On my side, if it were not for the organization I can even tell when I could have gotten the chance to seek for medical attention. In other words, through GiveDirectly I was able to seek medication.

When I received the second transfer, I was not feeling well. In that regard, I used KES 10000.00 for medication and thank you to GiveDirectly, I am now feeling better. I also used KES 3000.00 in paying school fees for my three primary school children and paid KES 2000.00 to a local saving sacco “chama” where we are pulling money together monthly. Thereafter, I opted to buy a one acre piece of land for KES 18000.00. The aim is to construct rental houses on this piece of land but since I am out of cash I will utilize it for farming and the yields will be helpful to my family. For the remaining amount, I saw it prudent to keep it for family use in terms of food and any other eventuality that may arise.

While preparing breakfast for my family at around 9am, I received a message in my phone. I stood and picked the phone which was at a distance so that I could see what the message was all about and to my surprise my body shook because what I saw was not a usual thing. Receiving KES 55000.00 in my phone was news. I felt so happy knowing that the major challenges I was facing were going to be solved.

The biggest difference I can testify is my health. If it were not for GiveDirectly I do not know where I would be right now, but thanks to the God brought organization which aided me to get medical attention through the transfer it made to me. The second thing is the water tank. This transfer came at a time when we were experiencing drought in our area. I used the tank to store water and this helped me and my family.

Before receiving the money I had some issues that were hard to tackle due to lack of finance. One was about medication, I have been sick for a while but I couldn’t get medical attention because I lacked the means. Upon receiving the transfer, I went to hospital for medication which cost KES 6150.00. Thereafter, I bought 4 goats for KES 16000.00, a sack of maize for KES 3500.00 and a water tank. Since I am a mother of 5 children, 4 of them are in primary school thus I bought some school uniforms for the costing KES 2120.00. Having done that, I opted to save the rest for the family upkeep.
