How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I have been married for two years and for all that time, I have been sleeping in my mother-in-law's house. This is because my spouse solely depended on casual jobs with low income, he couldn't afford to purchase the required materials for the construction of a new house. I never enjoyed my marriage by then because there no freedom neither privacy. However, after receiving the money, I prioritized construing my own decent house. I am now glad because the house has even strengthened our love and happiness in marriage. Also, I am now sleeping in a nice bed with a high-density mattress which is a relief from the traditional bed that I have been using previously.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectloy does well by offering permanent solutions to our long-time problems. Everyone in my village now has a decent house, our children are studying without any disturbances, we own livestock. This was as a result of being helped financially and allowed to utilize the money according to our heart desires.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my second transfer on buying some building materials iron sheets, nails, timber, and few building poles. This was purposely the construction of a new hose because which I had started the process using the first transfers. Previously I used to shelter in my mother-in-law's house since I was married for the past two years. Also bought livestock more so a dairy cow which cost KES 16000. I opted in purchasing ut because very soon I will start getting enough milk which will be for my family's consumption and commercial purposes.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received the transfer notification early in the morning. On checking the contents, I realized it was from GiveDirectly informing me that I had received my first transfer. I was overwhelmed with joy on seeing this and celebrated with my family because the transfer would transform our living standard.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I am now in the process of building a new house since the old one is in a state of collapsing. I could not renovate it on time due lack of financial resources. I am grateful to GiveDirectly because I managed to buy enough building materials such as iron sheets and building poles. I also paid for the labour cost. Having a new decent and iron roofed house makes it to be the biggest difference in my daily life.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent KES 10000 of my first transfer on buying a new bed and a mattress. My beddings were old and worn out since I have been using them for years without being replaced. In addition to this, I also bought some building materials which include 19 pieces of iron sheets and building poles in order to build a new house. I no longer stayed in the old living house since its in a state of collapsing. I also paid for the labour involved. I did some shopping for my family on new clothes and also bought some household items on the remaining amount.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
"Receiving this money means a stead source for me and my family. Since I have wished to have a long term investment. I am planning to spend 50,000 shillings to purchase 2 ingenious dairy cows that will supply me with milk for domestic use and sale. With this I will have a stead income for my family of 3 members. The income I will be getting from the sale of milk is going to help me cater to my family's basics needs such as food. Also, I will spend the remaining part of the transfer to repair my mud-walled house."
What is the happiest part of your day?
"Afternoon is my happiest part of the day. This is because it is the time when I get a quiet moment think on how to plan of the next day. I usual plan on income generating activities that I can engage in to provide for my family."
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
"Lack of a reliable source of income is my biggest challenge. Currently, I depend on my husband who does casual jobs at our nearby center. The wages is not enough to sustain us. In a day he earns 200 shillings. This has hindered me to meet my basic needs."
