My initial goal was to spend my transfer on paying school fees for my 5 children. Since I do not have a reliable source of income, I have been struggling not only to raise their fees but also to buy for them food. Once I managed to offset the accumulated school fee arears, I developed a new goal of keeping goats. The additional goal of raising goats will be great reward when they reproduce. Income from the sale of goats will help me to support my children's education.

Since GiveDirectly began to work in my area, I have witnessed it doing well in supporting our community financially. This has easen our burden hence we have not struggled much in raising fees as well as getting food for our family during the prolonged drought. Personally, I have began raising goats, a goal that I did not have at first courtesy of GiveDirectly's transfers.

I spent KES 20,000 from my most recent transfer to build a new small and descent house for my children. I have three grown up children who currently cannot spend in my house according to our cultural beliefs. They will therefore be using that new house instead of going to spend in the neighbourhood. Through this, they will be having ample time to study at night. I also spent KES 10,500 to buy 3 goats in order to initiate my dream of raising livestock. The rest of the transfer helped me to obtain food for my family members.

I felt very happy when I got the money because I had gotten something that was going to help me address the challenges I was facing, especially settling my children's school fees arrears, which had me stranded and didn't know what to do about them. I spent most of my transfer on settling my six children's school fees arrears, whom three are in primary school, two in secondary school and one in college.
