How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have because my house is looking better after this money helped me renovate it, movement has been made easy with the purchase of a motorcycle, there's better lighting with the solar all night, and food is readily available. Before, I used to sleep in an open house without a door and windows, and going hungry most times due to difficulty in having money to buy food.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well giving us money that has enabled people build iron sheet roofed houses, buy livestock which has brought happiness in homes. There's nothing it hasn't done well in my opinion.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
My second transfer was spent to buy food, a solar, cement, sand and water to plaster the inside of my house and cementing the floor.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When I received my cash transfer, I stayed calm for fear of thieves and collected it on the second day as per my plan of buying a motor cycle.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I decided to join hands with my son and we bought a motor cycle with my contribution of UGX 1,500,000 to support the family in transport. I then gave UGX 100,000 as thanksgivong to God and the balance of UGX 100,000, I used for buying food for the family.
