What did you spend your third transfer on?
When I received my third transfer, I spent on a solar panel, a sofa set and invested the remaining 10000 KES in rice farming. I feel the relief that Give Directly brought in our lives. I feel great in life!
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfer because I have acquired a better source of light-solar panel- I am able to light perpetually, charge for people phones at a little fee. I paid dowry for my 2 daughters-in-law and I am glad that this has fostered good relationship among us, the three families as opposed to before when we were owing them. Finally, it is my happiness that I have expanded my farming activities-currently I do rice irrigation and which makes me proud as a farmer since it would translate to more income as well.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my own opinion, what Give Directly did well was sending us money directly and this eliminated issues of corruptions. But, it could consider basic income instead since monthly income as little as 2000 KES for a longer term could suffice.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to hire a tractor that was used to plow my farm. I then bought hybrid maize seeds to be planted on my farm. The remaining amount was spent on buying food in the house.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I really felt very happy when I received the money from GiveDirectly. I had grown tired of plowing using common digging hoes. The money helped me to plow a larger area of the farm using the tractor.

What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I have plans of using the transfer in paying school fees for my children, buying bulls for farming purposes and cultivating a piece of land to plant maize and rice,I know I would have a bumper harvest with the good weather conditions.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
I'm proud of myself because I managed to educate my child to college level something that sounds like a dream to me. I had nothing at hand to count on but out of my hard work, my son is somewhere education wise.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I have surely labored to educate my child, I took some loan and could not pay back and the micro financial institution that gave me the loan came home took back my only two cows that I had for survival, that incident tortured me in away.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am usually happy when I receive visitors, I fear being lonely and love story telling as it keeps me lively, this happens in the morning hours.
