Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment when I had just received this transfer from GiveDirectly was characterized by excitement, relief, happiness and thanksgiving. It is a moment I will forever nurse in my heart. My heart rejoiced when I received this cash grant. I thought GiveDirectly will not fulfil the promise, but here Iam smiling with this huge sum of money. What else can I say? other than a big thank you!!
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Unlike before, there is food in my house but most importantly, I will own a good house with iron sheets and cement. I have had the problem of housing for decades but with this cash grant from GiveDirectly, I have already started building one. It will be completed in no time.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
This transfer from GiveDirectly has been spent on purchasing iron sheets, bricks, 3 bags of maize for consumption, beddings and I have saved part of the transfer for daily expenses like relish, salt and other things. My dream has been to build a proper house with iron sheets. My dream is about to be realised because of GiveDirectly.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
This means a lot to me. I will buy livestocks such as goats and chickens. The money will also help me to buy iron sheets and build a nice house.
I also plan to buy enough bags of maize. I will invest the remaining amount in agriculture. This coming growing season, I want to increase maize production and I will buy farm inputs using the transfer in readiness of the growing season.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am always happy when I have enough food for the day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My sleeping place is not nice such that I don't feel comfortable at night. Food access has also been a challenge.
