What did you spend your second transfer on?
I invested the whole of my second transfer in the produce business.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well by empowering most of the poor in my community to construct permanent houses. Personally, GiveDirectly gave me capital for my produce business through the unconditional cash transfers. On the other hand, there is no fault in GiveDirectly's operations so far.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has greatly improved in that, I no longer do heavy casual jobs for income. When I did these jobs, I usually got exploited and and sickly due to the heavy tasks I used to perform. In addition, I'm saving part of the profits realized in my business and I'm able to meet my needs such as clothes and beddings among others. In the past, the little money I worked for majorly went for treatment.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first cash transfer to purchase 11 bags of groundnut seeds worth UGX 1,100,000 for my produce business. I also paid school fees for my younger sister worth UGX 300,000. The balance of UGX 300,000 I am planning to purchase household items once their prices stabilize.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The cash transfer was sent at night when I was asleep. I recall my friend called to inform me about the mobile money message. When I read it, I could not believe my eyes. I remained awake till morning with numerous plans on how to spend the money. I then concluded that I had to start up a groundnuts' produce business.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my life is that I can afford to buy basic needs like food and clothes whenever I want. This was impossible before because I did not have money to purchase what I needed. In the past I would depend on my parents for money and personal provisions. The cash transfer has made me independent.
