How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life will soon change because I will be sleeping in my beautiful permanent house which I'm starting to build. Currently, I'm still sleeping in a thatched house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well by supporting me with money that has enabled me buy building materials for my permanent house. GiveDirectly has not done anything wrong.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I have spent my second transfer on building materials (4 trips of sand and 12 bags of cement) and food (beans and maize flour). There is a balance which I'm planning to spend on Labour.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that my family wakes up happy and lively. This is because I bought enough food that I stocked for emergency . I no longer have to worry about running out of food in the house. However,in the past I used to worry about what meal my family would have in the day. This worry would make me feel depressed and unhappy.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the transfer was my happiest moment. I felt very happy because this money was going to help me construct a house and provide food for my family. At that moment I also thought of acquiring clothes for my children. My children were dressed in tattered clothes and they were miserable. This was a time for me to change all that and make their lives better.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to purchase 15 iron sheets and cement worth UGX 875,000. I also spent UGX 100,000 on making bricks. In addition to this, I spent UGX 51,000 to purchase firewood. I spent UGX 40,000 to purchase clothes for my children. I also spent UGX 84,000 to buy cassava for my family. However, I am planning to spend the remaining cash transfer on baking bricks and purchasing other household items like beddings and utensils.
