"Lack of a stable source of income is the biggest challenge. When I separated from my wife due to irreconcilable differences, she left me to look after two children single-handedly. I rely on casual jobs for a living and it is unpredictable. Sometimes I lack money to buy food for my family and I have to take foodstuff on credit terms leaving me with huge debts."

"Persistent drought has been a challenge because, for the past three years, I have never harvested from the farm. The lack of sufficient food for my family of seven denies me comfort. At the same time, food prices have gone up making it expensive to afford three meals a day without straining."

"Our biggest challenge now is food. It has not rained for the last 3 years, we harvested almost nothing for that period. This year has been bad, all our crops have withered. This is affecting our ability to feed our family of 4.
To sustain our family we depend on our livestock and chicken. Their prices have been low due to their poor health. This can be connected to the elongated drought."

"The challenge I'm facing at the moment is a lack of food. I'm old and unable to do casual work or any work that gives me money. This has made food scarce. In addition to this, the prolonged droughts which have taken about 3 years have led to a lack of food in my granary. This has left me to depend on my children which is not enough. Without food, my life is very difficult and I feel sad whenever I have to skip a meal."

"There are many challenges that we are faced with at the moment. However, the most pressing challenge is a lack of water. Since our area is prone to prolonged droughts I'm forced to work for 2 kilometers in search of water. This has made life very difficult because I have a two-month-old baby who I have to carry when fetching water."

"I am a widower living alone and lack reliable source of income. I do casual jobs but due to my age I cannot do much. Most of the time I go without food. Lack of reliable source of food is the challenge I am currently facing in life."

My family is very happy.

"I am a housewife and my husband is working as a masonry. As a family of 4, we depend on him for everything in our household. Since he works within the community, the chances of getting a job are limited and in most cases, he stays idle at home. This means sometimes, we go hungry or survive on one meal a day. This has caused a lot of panic in me because I am always wondering what will be the fate of my young children's future. At the moment, I consider the lack of a stable source of income as my biggest challenge."

"The lack of a decent house is what I consider to be my biggest challenge at the moment. This is because it has robbed away my joy as a respected person in the village and I lack the confidence of welcoming my visitors. In addition, the house I am currently occupying belongs to my son who offered to me after mine collapsed. I find this to be culturally unacceptable since it's considered as taboo. What a shame!"
