"My biggest hardship in life is when I bought a dairy cow using loan from Kenya women microfinance bank in the year 2015. Suddenly, the cow died before I could pay back the loan. I had to seek funds from family, relatives and friends to repay back the loan. This was not easy because I had to spend all resources in the family."

"Last year my business was running at a loose because of drought that affect our area and politics at that time, it was really hard for me to pay school fees for my children. This was our biggest hardship we faced as family but we thank God we have managed to pick up also. "

"When I got married in the year 2004, I found my husband and his family with no tea plants unlike other villagers. I uncovered that my father-in-law did not want tea in his farm, probably because he did not know its value. I successfully approached my father-in-law to allow us plant tea in our farm. We planted about 0.2 acres of land, which provided us with significant and consistent income. Accordingly, my father-in-law realized the importance of the tea, and offered more land and manual support for planting more tea. He further encouraged other people in our family to plant more tea. I feel that was my greatest achievement since tea serves as our main source of income."

"In the year 2012, some I received and planted french beans from a certain well-wisher. After harvesting and selling the french beans, I used the proceeds to purchase and plant potatoes in half an acre of land. Luckily, I realized good harvest (15 sacks) from the potatoes. I sold the potatoes and used the proceeds to pay school fees for my kid who was joining secondary school. I find that this was my great achievement since I was able to ensure that my first born joined secondary. By then, my husband was unable to pay fees for our child."

"The achievement that am proudest of is the ability to proceed to my secondary education. I never thought I would join form one since my parents were so poor that they were not able to pay my school fees. It is by the grace of God that I was able to join form one and this made me so happy. I am particularly grateful to my neighbours who organised an harambee for me and made sure that I continued with my studies. Once in a while I have fee problem but am proud that I am almost done with my secondary education."

"The achievement that I am proudest of is having an established tea plantation. It took me close to four years to have the tea plantation established. I am now proud that I can take tea to the tea buying centre and have bonuses at the end of the year."
