Sabera
received a $24 fourteenth payment.
"The current farming season has brought us great relief as the food we will harvest could last my three children and me for at least four months. This has opened up new opportunities for me, and I have decided to invest in buying goats. In the past, I had five goats, but unfortunately, four of them perished due to a lack of vegetation. However, I am now hopeful that with the ongoing rains, there will be enough vegetation to support the goats. My primary goal right now is to continue buying goats and building up a healthy herd. I believe that by doing so, I can create a source of income that will benefit our family in various ways. In the future, when the goats reproduce, I could sell some of them to generate funds for our household needs, including education expenses and purchasing food."

Kachana
received a $24 fourteenth payment.
"My main goal is to save enough money by next year to enroll one of my children in high school after they complete primary school this year. In pursuit of this goal, I intend to keep buying goats and chickens to ensure I have a source of funds. I would be happier to secure education for all my seven children, who are currently attending school. Both my husband and I rely on charcoal burning as our primary source of income, and we equally contribute to support the family's needs."

Through the growth of livestock, I aim to not only provide for my family's needs but also to develop my financial stability."

Margaret
received a $316 third payment.
"I am a farmer and a mother of four children, my livelihood depends on agriculture. Ever since I separated from my husband a long time ago, it has been my children and I navigating life together. However, it hasn't been easy, as we often face financial challenges and must work exceptionally hard to meet our basic needs. Fortunately, when I received my third transfer, I knew I had to use it wisely to improve our situation. The most urgent matter was my son's secondary school fees, which amounted to $120. Education is paramount, and I wanted to ensure my son's access to learning. Understanding that farming is our primary source of income, I decided to invest $290 into it. In the past, financial constraints made such investments difficult, but this opportunity allowed me to bolster our potential earnings and secure a better future for my family. With careful planning, I allocated the remaining amount to purchase foodstuffs. Ensuring we have enough to eat is essential, and I am grateful that I could provide for this vital need. Looking back on the recent past, I am filled with happiness and gratitude. Achieving so much in such a short period of time seemed impossible, but through hard work and determination, we have overcome hurdles and are making significant progress. Today, I am proud of what we've accomplished and optimistic about what the future holds for us."

Betty
received a $372 second payment.
"GiveDiretly transfers came in the right time because as an ECD (Early Childhood Development) teacher with limited income, I faced the challenge of having a kitchen made of mud, which was both cumbersome and costly to repair every time it got damaged. With a budget of $230, I decided to invest in a more durable and sustainable solution. I decided to construct a simple yet sturdy kitchen using locally available materials like bricks and metal sheets. By doing so, I ensured that the kitchen would withstand the test of time and reduce the frequent need for repairs. The new kitchen provides a safer and more efficient space for cooking, making it easier to prepare meals for my family without worry. Out of the transfers, I also managed to allocate $300 for school fees to support my two children attending high school. Education is very important, and I am determined to give my children the opportunity to learn and succeed in life."

Douglas
received a $316 third payment.
"GiveDirectly's financial support has played a significant role in the remarkable progress our village has made. In the past, our reliance on maize farming, with its long time to harvest, limited our options. However, thanks to GiveDirectly, we now have the ability to diversify our crops, including short-season varieties that provide a quicker income. The freedom to spend the funds according to our immediate needs was greatly appreciated, and the process carried out by GiveDirectly was smooth without any challenges. We sincerely hope that GiveDirectly will continue to support people in similar ways in other villages, empowering them to overcome their challenges and improve their livelihoods."

Mwenda
received a $24 eighteenth payment.
"Currently, my primary objective is to attain financial stability, and I believe that investing in livestock offers the most promising path to achieve this goal. Initially, I utilized funds from various transfers to purchase four goats. Subsequently, I made the decision to sell these goats and reinvested the proceeds in acquiring a young dairy cow. This accomplishment fills me with immense pride, and I am eager to soon begin selling milk in the village, which I anticipate will generate a substantial income to meet my needs."

Michael
received a $127 initial payment.
"My life has been much better since receiving the GD transfer. The worries and stress of my young children skipping meals have been alleviated, as I was able to use the funds to purchase food that will sustain us for a while. This has brought a sense of relief and comfort, knowing that my family's basic needs are being met.
Moreover, the transfer came at a crucial time when I was facing the possibility of my child being sent home from school due to unpaid fees. With financial assistance from GD, I was able to finish up my child's school fees, ensuring that she could continue her education without interruptions. This has been a tremendous relief, as education is a priority for our family, and I want to provide the best opportunities for my children's future"
