"I will be producing milk from the heifer that I have already bought. I may also have added another heifer to my farm because am going on in the merry go round group. I hope to achieve this as dairy farming is the main source of livelihood in my community."

Dickson
received a $542 second payment.
"My life is different than it would have been if I never received GiveDirectly's transfer in that I have achieved my dream house which I have always yearned for years. I managed to construct a semi-permanent one with the transfer. Its an honor to stay in a clean environment and my children are healthy since I have prevented most of the diseases related to dust which they would get predisposed to before. Thanks to GiveDirectly for promoting my household hygiene."

Emmy
received a $523 second payment.
"I am glad about the life-changing opportunity that GiveDirectly made me realize at my unexpected point of need. It takes courage and hope to face life as a widow and truly speaking GiveDirectly motivated me in that, I learned to be positive in life even when there is no hope since one will never notice when it knocks. I now own a dairy cow that has already given birth to a calf hence we are getting five liters of milk in a day. I can proudly say that I no longer buy milk but rather my children are able to drink milk on a daily basis from our own cow."

Irene
received a $523 second payment.
"Before GiveDirectly came, I used to stay in a one-roomed house that served as a living room, kitchen, and bedroom. I used to feel embrace when I had visitors because they could be exposed to smoke whenever I made meals for them. There was no much space to host them when they were around. Today, my life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfer in that, I own a three-roomed house hence I am humble with space and comfort that I nowadays enjoy. Thanks to GiveDirectly."

Lynette
received a $542 second payment.
"I am very proud that my child is amongst a few children in the village who has completed college courtesy of GiveDirectly's transfer. I feel proud to say that, I did not ask for loans to settle the arrears that she had in her college which was a bigger relief to me bearing in mind the little income I make for a living. At the same time, I own a dairy cow that produces three litters of milk daily which has saved me from incurring expenses of buying milk from my neighbors like before."

Sharon
received a $525 second payment.
"Comparing my past life before receiving the transfers and how it is currently, I have witnessed a lot of differences, a reason enough to thank God for the great things which came into our family. My household structures have changed and currently, I have a cow to milk every morning both for our own consumption and surplus to sell."

Sharon
received a $525 second payment.
"Before my husband would borrow a loan at times to sustain the business during hard times. Now we are so happy that he has enough capital to run the livestock trading business with less struggle. All the profit he makes we spent on buying food, paying school fees and to cater to other family necessities which we couldn't afford before."

Phillister
received a $23 twenty-second payment.
"My life will be different in the next six months in that I will have built a new house by then. I plan to save part of my monthly transfers to buy building materials such as timber, nails and iron sheets. This is my main goal for now and I would not want to wait until I am homeless so as to build a new one. If the rains come before I get enough building materials, I will take a loan from our table banking group and build a house then pay back the loan through GD transfers."

Mary
received a $23 twenty-second payment.
"After paying school fees arrears for my children, I would want to save part of my transfers to buy a calf. I have always desired to own herds of cattle just like my father used to. I would also want to be rich in terms of livestock which has proven to be very helpful when it comes to raising money very quickly. When I have cows, I can be able to sell some to raise money to meet other needs with ease without having to go into debts and I would not be bothered about fees again. There is also pride that owning cows in my area. I would always want to have the best just like everyone else."

Dzende
enrolled.
"Inadequate funds has been a big stumbling block to our progress. As a village elder, my husband does not earn any income and only depends on casual jobs to feed us. As school reopens this month, am frustrated because I cannot afford the 88,000 shillings required for my two sons who are supposed to be joining secondary school next week. "
