"Supporting my son's education who is in form 3 now has been my biggest ambition. Currently, I am facing a lot of challenges in paying his school fees because his father is sick and we mostly spend money on paying his hospital bills. My plan when I receive the cash grant from GiveDirectly is to pay the school fees and I intend to use $150 to clear the arrears. The remaining amount will help me to buy 2 indigenous dairy cows that can multiply with time and I also plan to buy an ox plough since I already have an oxen to help me upscaling my farming."

"The urge to sleep on a modern wooden bed with a mattress pushes me to the need of buying one but due to the financial constraints, I have never realized this desire. My plan is to fulfill this wish once I receive my transfers from GiveDirectly and I am intending to spend $100 to accomplish this. On the other hand, I am planning to buy 3 indigenous dairy cows at a cost of $450 and in addition to this, I will also purchase 6 goats at $180. This will act as my long term investment project that can help me to meet my needs in the future."

"Receiving this money will enable me to buy a 3500 litre water tank @ $220 for harvesting and storing clean water whenever it rains, which will bring use of contaminated water from open water pans to an end. I will also invest my transfer in buying a dairy heifer @ $200 that will calf in one year's time hence an additional income from selling milk as well as building up savings from the ksh 60 that i spend daily in buying milk for family consumption. I will then use the remaining part of my transfer to buy food eg. Maize and beans to sustain my family till the next harvesting season."

"The biggest difference in my life since I started receiving these transfers is that I have a permanent house. Anytime I sit to relax in my house during free times, I remember a while ago, I did not have a shelter but because of the transfers, I have a permanent one. I am now living beyond my means because of GD transfers. I no9 longer have to worry about shelter anymore because I know the one I have will sustain us forever."

"The biggest difference in my life because of GD transfers is that I have a new and presentable house. I did not know in my life I could own a semi-permanent house. This is because of my low income from casual work which was very inconsistent. Without the transfers, I would have taken a loan to build a new house and I would have really struggled to pay it back since my income alone could not meet our needs successfully. Thanks to GD for the transfers."
