"The biggest hardship we have faced in life is prolonged period of drought. This has led to low crop production and inadequacy of water for domestic use. Even though the land under cultivation in which we have grown maize is only one acre, we harvest at most 5 bags which hardly enough to cater for a family of 6. We are therefore planning to venture into dairy farming in the near future in order to supplement from what we get in our one acre of land."

"I am a widow who is doing subsistence farming. My ambition has been to have a long-term investment like livestock keeping but due to financial challenges, this dream has never come to pass. Receiving this money means fulfilling it. I am planning to spend 60,000 shillings to purchase a pair of oxen and an ox plough. This is going to generate income for my family because I will hire them out to till other people's land during rainy seasons. In 1 acre I can make 2000 shillings, this amount is enough to cater for all my basic needs such as food. Other than that, I will use the extra amount to seek proper medication in referral hospitals. I was bitten by a chameleon 10 years ago in my right hand and I have never been cured despite visiting several clinics."
