"The structural integrity of my home is under imminent threat as the timber supporting the roof is being gradually consumed by weevils, leading to the impending collapse of the roof. In the upcoming months, my strategy involves accumulating sufficient funds by selling some of my livestock. The proceeds from this endeavor will be earmarked for the acquisition of new poles and the construction of a replacement roof for my residence. Simultaneously, a parallel long-term objective is to procure land, where I envision the development of rental properties to generate additional income. The ongoing financial support has played a pivotal role in realizing some of these aspirations, for which I am genuinely grateful."

Saumu
received a $21 eighteenth payment.
"I am a single mother with two children. My children are still young none is attending school. I believe that now I can think beyond what the limits poverty had brought in our lives before Givedirectly transfers. I would want to open a business that will facilitate my educating them when they start school. My business idea is to sell new clothes which will requires $100 to get a shop and stock it. I plan to save towards this goal from my monthly transfers and once I have enough to start the business I will be able to launch it and hopefully make more money than I do with my pastry hawking business."

"Givedirectly transfers have forever altered the course of life for me for the better. As I said my parents have been struggling financially, my father a charcoal seller and my mother a seasonal farmer have not had much luck. During the rains my father can no longer burn and sell charcoal due to the weather my mother however can plan but only for subsistence use. I knew I wanted to study through college and be an electrician but I also knew I had to chat my path. Now I am rearing chicken so as to help with achieving this goal. I also hope to redirect funds to this once my debt is fully paid off to my secondary school."

"I have moved from being a stay at home mother to owning a business. A light of a future greater than what I have is now beaming because of the Givedirectly transfers. Being a business owner now allows me to take care of my family's needs such as food and education. My husband is also a beneficiary and this also ensures we are not usually low on food or the children are not out of school. My goal now is to buy buy animals for me to rear. I currently have no animals and I would want to rear animals for food and as an emergency fund since I know the program will eventually come to an end."

received a $21 eighteenth payment.
"I was once married but due to differences between myself and my husband I was forced to go back home. I would have been lost and without a direction in which my life would take had it not been Givedirectly transfers. I have a small business sewing clothes where I make an income. I was full dependent on my mother with whom I live with since I did not have a house when I left my matrimonial home. I want to build a house of my own for me and my children. I am working to ensure my income covers school for my child which is $67 in a term so I can use my transfers to get myself a new house as house building is an expensive affair.."

Amina
received a $21 eighteenth payment.
"I have been in a savings group since my joining this program, I used to save consistently until November when my mother in-law got sick. Had it not been for Givedirectly transfers I probably would have lost a grip of my dreams. I had gotten to $230 in savings which I had hoped I would withdraw in November and buy a sewing machine as well as rent a shop to work out from. I used to own a shop providing tailoring services but I was forced to close down as I was renting the machine I was using and it was taken away from me. I spent $180 from my savings into paying the hospital bills for my mother in law and could no longer afford the sewing machine which would cost me $160. I am hoping to have enough in April to buy the machine and restart my business to ensure I am able to raise an income."

"The world has dynamically changed and this is something me and my wife recognize. We would never have had a change to think of a life different than what we have for our children without the Givedirectly transfers. Being without any papers, before, would not have prevent you from getting opportunities, but now you cannot navigate the world without this papers. I would want for my children to get a proper education and even get all the way to college hence my many efforts to ensure my oldest joined secondary school. I am hoping to spend the rest of my years transfers on my children's education to allow them have a chance to navigate the world."
