Kasichana
received a $27 thirtieth payment.
"My goal in the coming year and beyond is to allocate a significant portion of my subsequent transfers to go for more medical checkups. This will help prevent my health from worsening further by catching any problems early. The money will also be used to purchase any medicines prescribed by the doctor. Additionally, I plan to use the funds to buy nutritious food, especially fresh and leafy vegetables and fruits, to help boost my immunity. I am very happy with the financial support, as it is helping me take care of my health."

Zawadi
received a $27 thirtieth payment.
"My goal in the coming year and beyond is to use my subsequent transfers to purchase livestock. Due to my health condition, I am unable to work and provide for myself, so investing in and rearing livestock offers me a chance to earn some income and reduce my reliance on my mother for financial support. As the goats multiply, I plan to sell some, and the profits I earn will help me take care of my personal needs. I am deeply appreciative of the financial transfers from GiveDirectly, which are helping me work towards achieving this goal."

received a $155 initial payment.
"The biggest change since I started receiving money from GiveDirectly has been my ability to gradually recover from the devastating floods. Thanks to the support from GiveDirectly, I was able to save part of my farm, and despite the challenges, I managed to harvest 70 bags of maize. Although I had originally expected to harvest over 200 bags if not for the floods, I’m grateful for what I was able to salvage.
Additionally, I’ve been able to get back into poultry farming. With the money from GiveDirectly, I bought 50 chicks, which is the largest number I’ve ever bought before this, the most I could afford was 20 chicks. This has made a big difference for me because I plan to sell some of the chicks and let others lay eggs, generating more income from selling the eggs.
I’m truly thankful for what GiveDirectly has done for my life. The support has not only helped me recover from the floods but also allowed me to grow my farming ventures and secure a better future for my family."

Cynthia
received a $142 initial payment.
"I was in my home garden, tending to my vegetable farm, when my neighbor, a GiveDirectly recipient, told me he had just received his money. He asked if I had received mine, so I quickly rushed to the house to check my phone. To my delight, I found that I had received $180 from GiveDirectly. I was filled with joy, and my heart was full of gratitude.
My first thought was to use the money to expand my vegetable farming by planting more crops on another acre of land. I also planned to pay school fees for my son, who attends a nearby academy. I am truly thankful to GiveDirectly for this support, helping me improve my family's future."

received a $142 initial payment.
"Upon receiving $180 from GiveDirectly, I was so happy and felt like a huge burden had been lifted off my shoulders. I have always wanted to solve the flood threat that keeps affecting us, and I had found a piece of land on safer ground where I could build a home. I used $160 as an installment payment for the land. I plan to finish paying for it soon using the produce from my farm, so my family can have a safer place to live, away from the threat of floods.
I plan to continue farming on our current land, but I will do so after the rainy season, using irrigation to avoid losses from floods. The remaining money was spent on food for my family. I have five kids, and we’ve all benefited greatly from the support of GiveDirectly. We are truly grateful for the help, which has made a big difference in our lives."

"I was out in the field fencing my farm, and I received $180 from GiveDirectly. This news filled me with immense joy and gratitude, both to God and to GiveDirectly. My first thought was to use this money to improve my house by adding an extra room. This would make it more comfortable for me and my two boys. I also invested in roofing, and now I am pleased to have a house that is on par with the others in the area."

received a $142 initial payment.
"I received $180 from GiveDirectly while attending a prayer day event at a secondary school where my grandchild studies. There were about twenty of us there, and we began quietly sharing the news that we had received the money. The event was festive, with everyone enjoying the food, and the atmosphere was filled with joy. The money came as a delightful surprise on top of the day’s prayers. On the bus ride back, people were excitedly discussing how they had received the money and their plans. For me, the first thought was to use the funds to improve my house, which had been filled with mud from recent floods and was in poor condition."

"The biggest difference in my life right now is that I was able to buy two sheep with the money I received from GiveDirectly. I've never owned a sheep before, but now that I have them, one has already given birth, and we even milk it, so we no longer have to buy milk. This has changed everything for us—we no longer go to bed hungry because we can buy food items. Before, we struggled to find money for even the basics like vegetables and flour, and we often had to skip meals. Now, there's food on the table every day."

"I was just at home, relaxing, when I heard a message notification on my phone. Curious, I checked it and couldn't believe my eyes—it was the GiveDirectly transfer! I was so excited, I even wondered why the money came through on a Sunday. I immediately told my wife, but she couldn’t believe it either. We started talking about how we could finally build a better kitchen because the one we had was practically falling apart."

Karisa
received a $27 twenty-fifth payment.
"I am currently working in a shop business, though I am employed by someone else. With the experience I have gained in running a shop, I am optimistic about opening my own in the coming year and beyond. I am deeply grateful to GiveDirectly for their financial support—it has truly been a beacon of hope in my life. I joined a merry-go-round savings group, where we pool our funds together to achieve goals that might have been out of reach individually. I don't want to work for others forever; instead, I want to use this opportunity to create a job for myself. I believe that’s the purpose behind GiveDirectly’s support—to empower us financially.
Every month, I save $20 with the goal of opening my own shop in the near future. Running my own business will allow me to earn a better income, as I already have the knowledge and experience needed to make it successful. Once I establish my shop, I will be incredibly happy, as it will enable me to easily support both my own financial needs and those of my family. In fact, with this financial security, I will even be able to start a family, confident that I can provide for them without stress. I am truly thankful to GiveDirectly for making this possible."
